The final stage of the Dunragit excavations is the exhibition of its key artefacts and their preservation as a resource for future research and investigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following post-excavation analysis and publication, the assemblage from Dunragit was reported to the Treasure Trove Unit<\/strong><\/a> who deal with all the daily reporting of finds across Scotland, delegated from the Kings and Lords Treasurer\u2019s Remembrancer (KLTR)<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The assemblage was then considered by the Scottish Archaeological Finds Allocation Panel (SAFAP)<\/strong><\/a> and allocated to Stranraer Museum<\/strong><\/a> in 2024. The assemblage was delivered to the museum by GUARD Archaeology following the publication<\/strong><\/a>  of the results, which are free to download.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The assemblage is now on display in Stranraer Museum, showing off the ornate Jet jewellery recovered from elite early Bronze Age burial pits along with cremation urns and other select items from the assemblage.<\/p>\n\n\n

The results of the analyses have enabled us to better understand the archaeology, and the nature of past human occupation across eight millennia in this area of south-west Scotland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And a reading corner set aside with copies of the Dunragit booklet means that anyone can delve into the details of what was recovered during the Dunragit excavations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
